SharpPos, A Free Point Of Sale System

Super markets, pharmaceutical shops, and the likes could grow rapidly these days thereby making the task of management a bit tedious, ranging from inventory management to performance reporting. And these tedious tasks sometimes seems to be what the business needs to grow. Because some want to keep track of all the transaction that happens in their businesses, they tend to use pen and paper which is a very slow and out-dated System.

This  is why I develop this simple POS system Called SharpPos with full technical support to help those who cannot purchase expensive software from big companies or hire a software developer to build one for them to use what technology has to offer to manage their businesses.
I would have released this software before now, but  I had challenges on how  to share it.  I wanted the software to be as easily downloaded as one would click a button, as such, I planned building my own online program store but the cost of  doing that is not something I can afford at this time, so I thought of a simple way and made research, upload.com was what I found  but you still have to host the file somewhere before it can be imported to upload.com.

Features

Inventory Management System: The software helps you manage your inventory, i.e it keeps tracks of every item that comes in and out of your store.

Reporting: The reporting system helps you track the performance of your business and it supports printing, meaning that you can print your reports. You can also export your reports to Microsoft
Excel, Microsoft Word and PDF.

Point of Sale: This feature enables your to sell and generate invoice for your customer. Though it prints the invoice on an A4 paper but the next version will support printing on a role paper i.e. printing via a POS printer.

Who should use the software

This system should be used  by:
Any businessman or woman who is into buying and selling of goods (mostly supermarkets, pharmaceutical shops, etc.)

Technical Requirement

All one needs to operate this system is store keeping experience, sale experience and a basic computer knowledge. The learning of the system is very easy and other help you might require will be provided on this blog.

System Requirement

For this system to run, the following software(s) must be installed.
.NET Framework 3.5 or 4.0.

Operating System:

This system has only been tested on windows 7 (so windows 7 is recommended) if it works for you on other version of windows, please share your experience in this blog at the comment section.

How To Install SharpPos

1. To Install SharpPos, Download the installer file from here
2.  Once the download is completed, run the installer and follow the steps.
3.  Once the Installation is successful, click the start menu and go to "Computer" 
4.  Click on your Local Disk(C:) and locate a folder called ProgramData right -click the folder and click properties, a small window like this will be opened click the security tab and click the "Edit" Button, check to see if the user name you use in logging into the computer is listed
5.   If it is listed, highlight your user name in the list and check the "Full Control" CheckBox.
6.  If your user name is not listed, click the "Add" button and add your username also check the "Full Control Check Box" then click "Apply" and Click "Ok" to close the window.

Now open your SharpPos Program and enter "Admin" as the user name and "Password" as the password.
Note: You need administrative right to perform the above task. The password is Case-Sensitive meaning that "password" is different from "Password".

Because this system uses Microsoft SQL Compact Edition database, there are some limitations
Two or more people cannot work at the same time, meaning that two systems can not be connected to the database since the database does not support remote connection.
